Well, I’m just back in the UK from an enjoyable trip to Egypt.
It’s roughly just over 10 years since I visited Egypt. At that time I was a young photographic student and my eyes were opened to the wonders of North Africa. It was lovely to go back and travel around Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.
Meeting some wonderful people along the way and doing a little business it was a really great trip. Egypt has changed a
fair bit. Prices for many of the monuments have tripled and of course some of the main sights have become far too overrun with tourists. But, travelling independently really affords some special moments. Visiting Valley of the Queens at around 6am – before any tour buses turned up – I had the tombs completely to myself! It was one of those special moments!
Below are a couple of pics from the trip – one is very much the typical Egyptian scene, a felucca at sunset on the Nile and the other was shot at 6am in Aswan. A wonderful old gent, who had stories to tell and a great smile.
