I recently had the pleasure of attending the Centre 81 AGM in Great Yarmouth, shooting images of both the AGM, volunteers & staff.
It was certainly a rewarding few hours, learning about the charity and their amazing work. Perhaps the most interesting part of my visit was the passion shared by not only the staff & volunteers, but the incredible people who come to use the service – a real lifeline for the local users.
Centre 81 started in 1981 – the international year for disabled people – and since then has taken great strides to provide a service for people with physical and other disabilities gain skills, independence and confidence.
It has grown from just a handful of members to more than 800 who benefit from its ever expanding door to door transport service, and the well used skills and activity centre at its headquarters in Tar Works Road.
